The Happy Mask Salesman.wmv is the twenty-fourth video of Awakening and the forty-fourth video in Ben Drowned. It is preceded by The Prisoner.wmv and followed by The Dying World.wmv.

Synopsis

Sarah speaks to Rosa in the aftermath of her fight with Gomess. Rosa suggests for her to use Epona to get to Great Bay, but she's unable to remove the Adult Link mask. Epona runs away, leaving Sarah with no choice but to try for Snowhead. On the way, she finds that the Pendant of Memories has caused Tatl to remember their former identity, calling themself "Circle". Sarah cuts through Clock Town, finding an increasingly disturbing series of events culminating in a fight with a Wart, which she struggles to defeat. She leaves for Snowhead.

Description

Sarah and Rosa formulate a plan to try and gather more information on the state of the rapidly deteriorating world. Making her way to Snowhead, Sarah encounters a disturbing visage in Clock Town that shatters everything.

Transcript

The Rosa Intro play as usual however due to Sarah freeing Rosa in Prisoner.wmv, the spoken dialog is no longer heard. The First Scene that flashes is Rosa telling Sarah “… You Saved me”. The Second Scene is of a conversation between the moon Children with the dialog “She seems capable of infecting others according to the wretched man's plan”. The third is of Gomess before the fight with Sarah. The intro ends with a scene of the Skull kid running in the lost woods.

The Video begins with the 'Dawn Of the Second Day' screen before panning over Romani’s Ranch. It then cuts to Sarah who walks over the Barn to Rosa and Epona, before the two starts a conversation. “You beat him didn’t you? I knew you would. There is something different about you. It’s not just you in there, is it? I’m grateful, really, but there’s a lot you don’t know about this place”.

“I’m not sure coming here was the best idea. If you are dead set on this path, then head to Snowhead and Great Bay. At your size, you’re too big to ride Epona. Take off your mask and use her to head to Great Bay.” Sarah then attempts to remove the mask however something is preventing her from doing so and an error noise then plays. She suddenly is in the void surrounded by colored flames. The Moon Child with the Majora’s Mask is then on screen as the flames spin around Sarah where she then screams out in pain.

Sarah is suddenly back on the ranch, now holding a copy of the adult Link mask is unchanged from the adult form. Sarah, confused by what happens, looks around. “..... It’s not going to come off, is it?”

It then begins to rain before Rosa resumes talking.

“I’m… sorry. I wish you hadn’t gotten dragged into this. I’ll do my best to guide you, but I’m just waking up to this world myself. I don’t know what’s changed. I know they had names before… Nekko, Rem, Matt, Alex, Kevin… I knew some of them before we ascended. They’re not all bad people. I hope you can believe me. The original plan was that we would all live in this playground, free from the pain of the real world. We’d all take turns playing the Hero, the Villain, and everyone in between. And not just this world, but lots of others too. There were endless possibilities for fun. I don’t know what's happened since then, but something has gone horribly wrong”. Suddenly Epona runs away from Rosa and Sarah.

“Epona...? I have no idea where she’s going… I’ve never made it this far before… I have a terrible feeling about all of this. Neither of us have any idea what to expect going forward. We’re going to have to piece this mystery together by restoring memories of other digitized people. I wouldn’t worry about finding the Moon Children, they’ll be looking for you wherever you run. But I pity them… you are a remarkable foe.

Sarah then gains back control and leaves the ranch. Upon leaving the ranch she is attacked by a horde of Lizalfos, she easily defeats them all. Upon reaching Termina Field, Tatl begins speaking to her.

“Hey.. that Pendant is Having a residual effect on me as well. I don’t fully understand who you are but you can call me Circle. There are even more people trapped in here than even Rosa knew about. We Should head to Snowhead to gather more information”. She enters into the southside of Clock Town however all of the NPC's are missing, she wanders over to the eastside of Clock Town, again finding nothing. She them runs to the northside of Clock Town, once again finding nothing. She returns to the southside of Clock Town. Upon entering the Clock Tower she finds that Matt has disappeared as well. Upon exiting the tower she finds Anju on her normal routine. Sarah attempts to use the Pendant of Memories on her but it seems to have no effect. Sarah continues to follow Anju to the Laundry Pool.

However, Sarah finds Anju is nowhere to be seen. Sarah attempts to enter the building however it is locked. As Sarah turns around, she discovers the corpse of the Happy Mask Salesman floating in the moat while the “Song Of Unhealing” plays. She flees to the west side of Clock Town where Circle tells her “Hey, about what happened back there… that city seems to be in a constant state of flux. Things seem to be accelerating because of you. With the Happy Mask Salesman dead, the game seems to be starting to deteriorate. Be careful going forward, we have no idea what to expect now”.

Sarah then looks around before seeing Wart floating above Clock Town. Sarah starts to float in the air before Rosa flashes on screen seemingly saving Sarah. The Wart begins to attack, Sarah is quickly overcome by the bubbles. She eventually is able to move around enough for Circle to get details on Wart. “It’s a Wart. But I don’t get why it’s here. Of all the enemies… and what we just saw, is someone trying to tell us something?” Sarah is eventually able to defeat Wart and flees Clock Town, she makes her way to Snowhead as the video ends.
