Game The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
"SARAH - That’s a nice name."

Methods of Revolution [Day 21] is the seventeenth video of Awakening and the thirty-seventh video in Ben Drowned. It is preceded by Methods of Revolution [Day 11] and followed by Methods of Revolution [Ben.wmv].

Synopsis

The third player wakes up to a freshly-cleaned room and a furnished bed. Abel thanks her for staying in the room instead of leaving and getting herself killed, then tells her about her new entertainment setup: a Nintendo 64, with a grey cartridge labeled "MAJORA." She starts the game and names her file "SARAH."

The Rosa intro plays as images flash. The first is a screenshot of Methodsofrevolution.com as it was up until the premiere with the “I just signed up for this” text. The next is a screenshot of the “5/17 Update - What day will you leave?” Patreon poll results with “Stay” as the victor. The last is an image of a phone sitting on the desk with “BJWHS4TLNMQGU4TNNZTSA4TBOVWGOIDJM5XG22RAO5VWO5T2EBUGS===” underneath. The intro ends.

The screen fades to white as music plays in the background. Player 3 wakes up underneath a white patterned blanket on a bed in a clean room and rolls over. She realizes she isn’t where she fell asleep and grasps at the blanket. Pushing herself up, she looks under the blanket and pillows before turning to an alarm clock, the source of the music, and turning it off with a sigh.

Player 3 gets out of bed, assessing her surroundings, and goes to the now clean desk. Flipping open the Holy Bible, she looks through the pages, the only noticeable change a QR code placed in the front cover. When scanned, the QR code shows a picture of a young, smiling person with dirty blonde hair titled “wocled5.jpeg”. She closes the book and shoves it a few inches. She places her hand on the desk before continuing to inspect the room. Two more QR codes are visible in frames on the wall, one of which reads “KITCHEN - IT’S THE KITCHEN”. She notices an AV cable sticking out of the TV and looking at it for a few moments. She lets it drop and picks up a power adapter sitting near a white case on the shelf.

She walks toward the door where a paper with the text “Subject 423” is taped. A QR code hangs above the doorframe. Player 3 grabs the handle and attempts to open the door, jiggling it a few times before giving up. She goes to the adjacent room door, though it doesn’t open either. She tries to turn the lock, but it refuses to give. With a sigh, she turns back to the room, glancing at the framed QR codes for a moment.

Abel begins to speak from the phone. “Hey, it’s me, your pal, uh, Abel.” Player 3 walks toward the phone where a QR code is taped and gently messes with it as he continues. The QR code yields an image of the Father with a huge, wonderful smile called “eat.jpeg”. “You know, it’s probably nice waking up on a furnished bed and not lying on the ground like some kind of hooligan. You, of course, have me to thank for that. I finally got around to cleaning your room. Got rid of some of the riff-raff, and all the junk, and all the weird, disembodied heads that were floating around your room. Um, so uh, sorry about that again.”

Player 3 moves from the bed to the dresser as Abel says, “But, the good news: I left you a bunch of different entertainment packages. Now, one of the ones you’re probably gonna get a big kick out of. It’s kind of an old-school gaming platform.” Player 3 opens the top left drawer of the dresser and picks up a grey Nintendo 64 console without cords as Abel continues, “You’ve probably heard of it because I know you’re a little bit of a gamer, uh, but we made some really cool AI tweaks to it, and I think it’s gonna really keep you busy.” Player 3 slowly brings the console to the top of the dresser and sets it in front of the television screen where the cords are waiting and ready to go, the A/V cord already plugged into the TV and the power cord already plugged into the wall. “Now, it’s part of this sort of experiment we have going on upstairs, and, where the boys up top are really interested in seeing how you handle it. Uhm..”

Player 3 turns the console on its side to reveal the back ports and plugs the cords into the console as Abel remembers, “Oh God- I’m- where are my manners? Hey, thank you again for, uh, listening to me,” he chuckles, “and not diving out in the middle of the hallway and getting eviscerated immediately, that really meant a lot to me, and, uh, makes me feel valued and listened to.” He chuckles again, “And, uh, I just- I feel like we have some sort of connection.” Player 3 finishes hooking up the console and sets it down properly on the table.

“I feel like this is really great. I’d like to keep this going. So, if you ever need anything, you know, anything at all, my phone call is right in the corner of that room. You just give me a dial.” As Abel is speaking, Player 3 lifts the lid off of a white plastic box to find a facedown N64 cartridge and a single black N64 controller. There is a paper with a QR code underneath the controller. This shot is used as the thumbnail for the video. “But remember, everything is taken care of in your room. You’re safe in here. Outside,” Abel momentarily sighs as Player 3 lifts the controller, “that’s kind of where things get dicey, so you wanna stay in here as much as possible.” When the controller is lifted, the full QR code is revealed. When scanned it would reveal the phrase “Play with me forever!”

“Although, I’m sure you already know that, I’m sure you’re happy. Now go play some video games! Go have fun! Go distract yourself! Anyway, I’m a phone call away. Take care.” Abel ends his speech as Player 3 plugs in the N64 controller and sets it on the dresser. She tentatively picks up the cartridge and flips it around to reveal its front. The sticker is completely removed and the word “MAJORA” is written in black marker. She analyzes this for a second before securing it in the console, picking up the controller, and turning it on. Player 3 moves backwards to sit on the bed and the camera is kept low for a moment, giving us a clear view of a QR code on the bottom corner of the microwave, save for the controller’s cord swinging around it. The camera pans upwards showing a black television screen with a circular light reflection in the middle.

The scene fades into the Nintendo 64 logo. The Majora’s Mask intro is played. Player 3 presses start and both files are shown as empty. She selects File 1 and inputs her name as “SARAH.” She starts the game and the regular Majora’s Mask opening is played:

  • In the land of Hyrule, there echoes a legend. A legend held dearly by the Royal Family that tells of a boy…
  • A boy who, after battling evil and saving Hyrule, crept away from the land that had made him a legend…
  • Done with the battles he once waged across time, he embarked on a journey. A secret and personal journey…
  • A journey in search of a beloved and invaluable friend…

The regular introduction is broken by some new text, not featured in the original game:

  • SARAH - That’s a nice name.
