The Dying World.wmv is the twenty-fifth video of Awakening and the forty-fifth video in Ben Drowned. It is preceded by The Happy Mask Salesman.wmv and followed by The Predecessor.wmv.
Synopsis
Sarah continues her journey toward Snowhead. She and Circle find that Snowhead is destabilizing before encountering Kaepora Gaebora outside the entrance to the shrine. He cleverly reveals his true identity as Ryan before showing Sarah the way to the shrine, allowing her to acquire the Lens of Truth and a Piece of Heart. She returns and follows Darmani to his tomb, where he accosts her and reveals that another player is inside the game. She takes the Hookshot from his tomb and encounters the Goht child, barely surviving the ensuing fight and acquiring his soul.

Sarah pursues the second lead into Snowhead to find the frozen tundra rapidly deteriorating. As she explores the bizarre landscape she finds that its inhabitants have all disappeared, save for one mysterious ally. Her investigation ultimately puts her on a crash course to a fated showdown with the second Moon Child.
Transcript
The introduction plays as normal, showing intermittent clips of the previous video amongst hidden spectrogram messages. The video then begins with Sarah walking into the path to Snowhead. She progresses further and looks closely at the distorted landscape around her, trees and snowballs placed randomly on the walls and in the sky. Heading further through the strange area, Circle informs "This is... all wrong. It looks like this entire part of the world is... destabilizing. Let's tread carefully going forward."
Sarah progresses further through the corrupted area. Circle states "Hey.. there's something about the air here. I can't shake the feeling that we're being followed." Sarah turns around and observes to see nobody but a bird circling in the sky. Climbing upwards she takes another survey at the area and bird before walking up to a sign which reads "LEAVE OUR HOME."
Sarah enters the Mountain Village, the intro cutscene for the area plays in which strange figures can be seen falling from the sky. Sarah looks up to see strange, rotating iceberg platforms suspended in the air. She looks at the Mountain Smithy's building to see it is missing it's door, Sarah observes the black void in the building and attempts to enter to no result. She takes one last look around before heading towards the path to Goron Village.
The path is even further distorted, littered with misplaced trees, items and obstacles as Sarah rushes across the bridges to reach the outside of Goron Village (which is in a similar state of corruption). She makes her way to a levitating cavern before spotting an Owl above on top of a pole as well as a strange shadow.
The owl begins to speak to her. "Hoo-Hoot! We meet again! Or rather, for the first time, perhaps? It's admirable you seek to change the fate if this world, but as you can see there are things beyond our control. If you continue, you will face many trials, the most important of which will be fought without a sword. This land will become the fate of all of Termina, soon. It will become a land where no living thing can survive. But if that courage and determination burns bright within you, then that's another story... So will you proceed?"
Sarah chooses "Yes" and the Owl continues. "Hoo-Hoot! You are a curious girl of many strengths! Perhaps you do have enough strength to change the fate of this world after all. I shall take to the air now, flying toward that shrine across the way, so follow behind me. Do not be daunted by appearances. Instead, let your feelings guide you, and the true path shall open before you. Are you ready? Follow behind me! I shall show you the path to gaining the strength you once possessed!" The Owl (Ryan) then flies towards the levitating Shrine, leaving feathers behind which leads Sarah to jumping across suspended, invisible platforms.
She makes it across and Ryan speaks further. "Hoo-Hoot! As I have done before, I will grant you additional insight. There are those who can walk between worlds. You have already encountered several. Some are in hiding, some want to be found, some cannot speak for themselves. Enter the shrine. Proceed as you would normally. Despite falling apart, some of the original world's logic still applies." Ryan then flies away before Sarah enters the shrine.
Inside the shrine is a treasure chest, Sarah opens this and obtains the Lens of Truth. A message pops up reading 'You got the Lens of Truth! Gaze through it to see mysteries that are invisible to the naked eye. Set it to C to use it. Seeing the truth drains magic power, so tap C again to stop looking and using up magic.' Sarah equips the Lens of Truth and heads towards a second chest at the back of the shrine. She is attacked by an invisible Skulltula and activates the Lens of Truth, which transforms the world and herself to have pitch-black textures except for the now visible Skulltula. She defeats the enemy and toggles off the Lens, opening the chest to obtain her second Piece of Heart, an empty text box appears alongside this item.
She exits the shrine and toggles on the Lens, once again transforming everything into total darkness except for the once invisible platforms and ghost of Darmani. She hops across to Darmani's spirit, who speaks to her "If you truly can see me, then follow behind me..." Sarah then follows the ghost to the bridged path outside of Goron Village. Oddly, toggling her Lens hear does not trigger the pitch-black effect from before. She steadily makes her way across and enters the Mountain Village. She toggles on the Lens (now having back it's shrouding black effect) to make note of the invisible laddering on the side of the Mountain. She begins climbing, making use of her Lens to get to the top where she sees two graves. She examines them, the first reading 'A dream never realized lies here' and the second reading 'An unrequited love lies forgotten here.'
Sarah then enters the Goron Shrine and slowly approaches Darmani, who speaks to her "You... This is all because of YOU!" Darmani them jumpscares Sarah, who stumbles down. Darmani then continues ".....Everything was FINE until you came along. All of this destruction and chaos is following YOU." The video then cuts to the destabilised Snowhead as Darmani continues. "You've brought an infection here that's unlike anything we've ever seen before. There's no escaping it. Not even fleeing to that mirror world will work this time. It's infected too." The video fades back to Sarah and Darmani, who speaks further. "I can sense you. You feel like a duplicate of other people that already live in this world. So what are you? A demon? Some kind of virus? Or have you just come to pull the plug on your little experiment, you sick freak?"
Sarah attempts to use the Pendant of Memories on Darmani, who warns her. ".....You should be careful who you use that on, I don't need any help remembering my past.. I already know exactly who I am, and while I didn't always like this place, it's become home to me. I won't lift a finger to help you, and besides someone else already came here before you today. But that's none of your business. Get out of my sight."
Darmani then disappears from the Goron Shrine as Sarah goes to pick up so leftover bombs on the ground, she then notices a chest in the area and opens it up to retrieve the Hookshot. A message reads 'You found the Hookshot! Use it to grapple items so you can reel them in or pull yourself over to them. Press C to arm it, then use Control Stick to aim. Release C to shoot.' Sarah then exits the shrine and sees the floating iceberg platforms from before in front of her. A dead tree stands on the platform and Sarah uses her Hookshot to pull herself over to it. She does this across multiple platforms before noticing the Goht Child. She heads yet further across, utilising her Lens and Hookshot before she stands on the platform with the Goht Child.
She interacts with the Goht Child, who only says "Fine... Let's get this over with." A flash of white light then occurs as Sarah is warped to Goht's boss chamber. The intro to the boss fight plays, interrupted with a visage of Rosa and the sound of acquiring multiple hearts. Multiple Dinofols appear in Goht's Chamber, Sarah manages to dispatch the Dinofols but sustains damage from them and Goht's rampaging. Eventually Sarah takes so much damage that Circle warns her "SARAH!! We can't keep taking hits like this!"
Sarah manages to land a Light Arrow on a stationary Goht. Circle then informs her further "Without the right mask, we can't compete with his speed and those Dinolfos just keep coming!" The video cuts to Rosa and Ryan observing the battle in their void space. Rosa says "They're getting overwhelmed....." and Ryan explains "He's lured them into a trap."
Back in the Chamber, Sarah sustains yet more damage from her enemies causing the low health effect to play, but she lands several Light Arrows on Goht. Rosa and Ryan appear yet again as Rosa informs "SARAH! It's not much... but I can restore you one last time before my strength gives!" A heart restoration sound occurs before Circle states "It's hardly anything... we have to finish this now." Sarah throws a bomb at Goht, who then topples to the floor as Sarah slashes at him. Goht then restarts his rampage as Sarah attempts to shoot him, retaliating by electrocuting her back to low health.
Sarah holds up a bomb facing the wrong direction, tricking Goht into thinking her guard is let down. She throws the bomb behind her and topples Goht once more. Sarah finishes Goht off, her charges into a wall and is crushed by boulders. Sarah is seen exhausted as the video cuts to a white void containing the Goht Child.
The Goht Child speaks "You... actually got me. What did I ever... do to you? I guess... you want to know who I am then? Is that all you care about? Solving some little mystery? No... I'm not going to give you that satisfaction. Go ahead and consume me, monster." The video then fades back to Sarah standing on the levitating iceberg platforms. Bells can be heard ringing as the sun sets and a Wolfos howls, signifying the on-screen message...
