Tyler Lawman is a character mentioned in passing by Jadusable during the Haunted Cartridge Arc. He was allegedly present during Jadusable's first return to the old man's house, and is only mentioned twice afterward in TheTruth.rtf, where he is mentioned by name. He is briefly encountered again in the Awakening Arc.

History

Haunted Cartridge Arc

Tyler is mentioned during the day four.wmv summary, though his name was first revealed during a retelling of the event in TheTruth.rtf. He accompanies Jadusable to the old man's house after the events of day four.wmv occur, but they are met with a "for sale" sign and left with no answers. He is mentioned once more, immediately afterwards, where he asks Jadusable "what's gotten [him] all worked up." He was not given an answer.

Moon Children Arc

One of the Tenor accounts on Within Hubris belongs to Tyler. On February 26, 2011, several Within Hubris users received a letter that contained, among other things, an article that described a murder-suicide that occurred three months ago; the family involved was later revealed to be Tyler's during the Awakening Arc. The next day, his name was discovered in the tags of h b i s r ea l.

Awakening Arc

Sometime after the collapse of society described during the Awakening Arc, Tyler apparently dropped his given name and became known as Berkeley. During this time, his state of mind deteriorated and he began believing that the world around him was a result of his own mind. He was later found by Jadus and Denton, who had been given his description and code name, and given an opportunity to join them. Tyler instead committed suicide in front of them by firing his gun into his mouth.

Personality

Nothing much is known about Tyler, but from the events described by Jadusable, he appeared to be caring and somewhat tolerant of his friend's refusal to tell him what happened. Later, presumably as a result of either the murder-suicide that killed his family or the collapse of society (or both), his mental state deteriorated and he isolated himself from what remained of civilization.

Notes

• Tyler's last name was confirmed to be Lawman in transmission.txt, confirming him to be related to the family mentioned in the Newspaper Letter. Whether he was an immediate family member or not is not currently known.
