As of 2022, I've put over a decade of my life into not only this wiki, but the community as a whole. When I joined Within Hubris back in 2011, I was but a wee 15-year-old and had no idea how important this place would become to me. After joining, I met some [[Within Hubris|wonderful people]], many of which are still very close to this day. More and more come from time to time, and I'm glad to have had the opportunity to call them my friends.

As of 2025, I've put half my life into not only this wiki, but the continued endeavor of keeping the community alive. When I joined Within Hubris back in 2011, I was a dumb kid with several issues, and I had no idea how important this place would become to me. Frankly, joining the forum when I did was the catalyst for every good thing that would happen to me afterward. I wouldn't know the people I know, love the people I love, or be the person I am without having found my place here.

Despite not having been present for the majority of the ARG by the time I arrived, I took a high interest in seeing the story archived in as complete a capacity as possible. Perhaps that stemmed from my own desires to fully understand what I missed at the time; by the time I'd managed to wrap my head around it, the story had gripped my mind so forcefully that I was never able to let it go. When Immortallies, the previous owner, stepped down, I was essentially handed the wiki with little question because it seemed nobody else cared to take the mantle. For a long time, interested people seemed like a rarity and I often found myself wondering if it had all been for naught. Of course, I would later be proven wrong when, in the midst of the COVID pandemic in 2020, the final arc of the story took place.

When I found my way to Within Hubris, I hadn't been present for the majority of the story up to that point. The first arc had gripped my mind so thoroughly that, when I found out there was more and that it wasn't all present and ready for new readers, I took great interest in becoming part of the solution to that problem. My new goal became first to understand what I'd missed, then to ensure others after me are afforded that same luxury. The previous custodian of this wiki, Immortallies, left the wiki in my hands in 2012. Nobody else was present to carry it forward, and the community was at its lowest point. It seemed that fewer people came to read about it over time, leaving me to wonder if the work was truly worth it. Later, I would realize that even if I was the only person interested in this story, it was all worth it.

And that brings us to now. The story has concluded and all of the love and effort I've poured into this project over the years, whether alone or alongside my team, has finally been fully realized. I am so incredibly happy to contribute this resource to the community. I'm thankful for those who support me in this continuing journey. The last decade was spent keeping the wiki safe until such a time came that it was needed once again, and we finally witnessed the end together. It's been a blast.

I'd always been a believer that the story would continue in some way, and my hopes were proven true when {{A}} took place over a harsh and uncertain 2020. It was bizarre seeing the community that we few had been stoking the embers of suddenly surge in numbers, introducing a new generation of players and readers. By chance, we had taken steps to bring the wiki to an independent site and break free of Fandom just beforehand, and having the opportunity to work with our newfound friends in archiving a story as it happened was the greatest joy I could have asked for.

Hello, everyone. I am CircleHunter, a long-time member of Within Hubris and the owner of this wiki. Since 2012, completing and maintaining archival of Ben Drowned has been my life's work. If you'd like to contact me, please do so via the Within Hubris Discord server or my Bluesky (@circlehunter.withinhubris.com).

About me

I'm a college dropout and perennial customer service peon, currently attempting to figure out my life. It's a little rough right now, but I'll make it. In my spare time, I contribute to some other wikis, play games, stream occasionally, and I've been known to collect things from time to time. Among those collecting endeavors are my growing stack of Blue Öyster Cult records and my journey for every Haunter card that has ever been released in the Pokémon TCG.

Why I'm here

As of 2025, I've put half my life into not only this wiki, but the continued endeavor of keeping the community alive. When I joined Within Hubris back in 2011, I was a dumb kid with several issues, and I had no idea how important this place would become to me. Frankly, joining the forum when I did was the catalyst for every good thing that would happen to me afterward. I wouldn't know the people I know, love the people I love, or be the person I am without having found my place here.

I'd always been a believer that the story would continue in some way, and my hopes were proven true when Awakening took place over a harsh and uncertain 2020.

That brings us to the present. Ben Drowned has concluded, and all of the love and effort we've poured into this project over the years brings me unwavering joy. It's been an honor to contribute to this resource for our community, and I'm thankful for everyone who has supported the wiki in its journey. I spent years hoping what we've built here would be useful to people in the future, and when we witnessed the end together, that hope was realized. Now, we just sit back and see what happens next.

My projects

In addition to this wiki, I've been known to occasionally take a break and do other things for a second.

Complete archive of youshouldnthavedonethat.net (currently inactive)

In 2016, the long-lost youshouldnthavedonethat.net was recovered at great expense by an ambitious creator called Silentdork. After a brief time being featured in the long-running spin off ARG Johnisdead, it had served its intended purpose and was graciously allowed to host a complete recreation of the site's history, page by page and word for word (well, mostly). Unfortunately, it is currently not online. Perhaps someday.

Of course, I have only contributed to this effort. Credit goes following people, in chronological order of their contributions:

  • Kafeite, who in 2010 archived the site as it originally appeared
  • Anegative, who in 2010 and 2011 archived the post-Moon Children incarnation of the site
  • Silentdork, who rescued the domain name from its $600 purgatory and formed a new vision with it
  • Mesic, who rebuilt the site according to the archives of Kafeite
  • Myself, who added the remaining pages and continues to maintain the site
  • I'm sure Wolfcat did something too

Fan Drowned (cancelled)

At one time, I ran a blog called Fan Drowned, which served as a database of sorts for fan-made Ben Drowned content, specifically videos. I started it way too late, and as a result of not having this idea earlier, much content has been lost as users sometimes remove videos and, in some cases, delete their YouTube accounts. However, I've countered this problem with my own solution. I've downloaded literally every Ben Drowned fan video I could find on YouTube, backed them up, and am storing them on my own in case something like that happens to the remaining content.

I posted a new video from my archive once every three days at 11:30 PM EST, and on super special update days, I altered the usual post schedule to fit around them suitably. At the last count, I had a total of 328 videos. This was roughly enough content to keep my blog active for about 2.5 years.

Unfortunately, the project has been cancelled. It began to feel like a chore, despite my love of the concept. I wish I could say that wasn't the case. Maybe one day I will find the time to set a year's worth of content to auto-post, though. Who knows?

Want list

Here are some ARG-related things that I would love to find at some point.
